Israel Muchena is the Managing Director of Agricultural Insurance at Hollard Moçambique Companhia de Seguros. He holds a Master of Arts Degree in Development Studies from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University of South Africa and Bachelor of Arts Dual Honours Degree in Modern Languages from the University of Zimbabwe. He is also a Certified Expert in Climate Risk Management and in Microinsurance of the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, Germany. He has vast experience of doing insurance and reinsurance business in the following markets: Angola, Botswana, Brazil, Cape Verde, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Israel is a non-executive director of Futuro Microbank S.A. He is also the Vice-Coordinator of the Insurance Promotion Working Group of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy of Mozambique. Among his other notable achievements, Israel is also a published author of the following three books on insurance business:
