David Maslo is CEO of African Risk Capacity (ARC) Ltd, a hybrid mutual insurer supporting African nations in managing disaster-related financial risks.

With deep expertise in disaster risk insurance and financial management, he previously served as ARC’s underwriter and head of business development, creating insurance products for droughts, floods, and epidemics. He also led initiatives for social safety nets and agricultural protection.

Before ARC, David was Chief Risk Management Officer at the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility, overseeing $1.5 billion in disaster risks across 30 countries.

He holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Political Science/International Relations and Economics from the University of Pretoria, plus a data science certification. His credentials include CPCU, ARe, and Insurance-Linked Securities certification, and memberships in the UK Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and the Institute of Directors.
